What makes us lose our footing can certainly also inspire new ideas. Iliggocene – The Age of Dizziness explores dizziness as a state of unpredictability and uncertainty through exhibitions, screenings, literature, performances and discussions. What forms of artistic and critical thinking, what networks and alliances, what (artistic) vocabulary become relevant in this context? Yet dizziness is not merely a theoretical or curatorial concept, but also a physical experience with which we are all familiar.
Iliggocene – The Age of Dizziness is a project by Ruth Anderwald, Sergio Edelsztein and Leonhard Grond that explores the artistic, curatorial and academic investigation of dizziness as a conditio humana, complemented by selected works from the Ursula Blickle Video Archive (Research Centre, Belvedere). The archive now comprises around 3,000 copies of video works by international and Austrian artists and focuses on cross-disciplinary artistic approaches spanning video art, performance and experimental film.
